Core Civil Mining is an experienced tailings storage facility (TSF) contractor with a proven track record of constructing, raising, and rehabilitating tailings dams and embankments across Western Australia's gold, base metal, lithium, and mineral sands operations. TSF construction demands the highest standards of geotechnical engineering compliance, earthworks precision, and quality management — and our teams deliver on all counts. We work directly from engineer-approved designs with experienced supervisors on the ground ensuring every lift, every fill zone, and every compaction test is documented, verified, and traceable throughout the life of the facility.
Our TSF construction capability includes initial cell formation, starter embankment works, upstream, downstream, and centreline raising methods, geomembrane liner installation coordination, decant pond and decant tower construction, spillway works, and seepage interception drain installation. We operate a modern, purpose-maintained fleet of dozers, scrapers, vibrating rollers, and graders specifically suited to the confined working conditions, material selectivity, and compaction frequency requirements inherent to tailings embankment construction. All fill placement is controlled by GPS machine guidance systems and independently verified by on-site quality testing including nuclear density gauge testing, particle size analysis, Atterberg limits testing, and Proctor compaction verification in accordance with AS 3798 Guidelines on Earthworks for Commercial and Residential Developments and project-specific geotechnical specifications.
Core Civil Mining manages staged TSF raising programs in close coordination with project geotechnical engineers, facility designers, independent tailings engineers, and WA regulatory authorities including the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS). Our supervisors understand the critical importance of material source identification, borrow area management, and fill zoning in the context of tailings dam safety — and we maintain meticulous construction records to support ongoing dam safety surveillance, performance monitoring, and regulatory reporting requirements under the WA Mining Rehabilitation Fund guidelines and the National Tailings Storage Facility Safety Framework. We have extensive experience constructing geomembrane-lined tailings cells in coordination with specialist liner installation contractors, including preparation of compliant substrate, quality assurance of liner installation, and construction of protective cover layers over completed liner systems.
Beyond construction, Core Civil Mining provides TSF rehabilitation and mine closure earthworks including final cover construction, topsoil reinstatement, drainage diversion and outlet works, and revegetation preparation — all executed in accordance with mine closure plans approved by DMIRS and the Mining Rehabilitation Fund requirements. All tailings storage facility earthworks are delivered under Core Civil Mining's integrated HSEQ management system, with zero compromise on safety, quality, or environmental compliance throughout the operational and closure life of every facility we construct.

Learn MoreWe construct and maintain high-specification haul roads, light vehicle tracks, rail formation works, and remote airstrips. Our teams are experienced in pavement design, formation drainage, and ongoing grading and maintenance programs in the harshest WA environments.
Learn MoreEffective water management is critical to mine site productivity. We deliver pit dewatering, bore field management, open drain and culvert construction, sedimentation pond installation, and stormwater diversions - ensuring your site remains safe and operational through wet season conditions.
Learn MoreCore Civil Mining has extensive experience in the construction, staged raising, and rehabilitation of tailings storage facilities (TSFs). We work to engineer-approved designs and strict regulatory requirements, delivering safe, stable, and environmentally compliant structures throughout their operational life.
Learn MoreOur mobile and semi-fixed crushing and screening plant allows on-site processing of run-of-mine ore, blasted rock, and construction materials. By producing graded aggregates at the point of use, we significantly reduce double-handling and haulage costs, improving project economics for our clients.
Learn MoreKeeping your civil infrastructure and plant in peak condition is critical to operational continuity. Core Civil Mining provides scheduled preventive maintenance, reactive breakdown response, road grading programs, culvert cleaning, and civil asset inspection across active mine sites and remote facilities.
Learn MoreCore Civil Mining delivers specialist civil and construction services in underground environments including portal construction, decline development support, concrete lining, drainage installation, services reticulation, and underground infrastructure fitout. All works are executed under strict WHS protocols specific to underground mining operations.
Learn MoreOur SMP capability covers structural steel fabrication and erection, mechanical equipment installation and commissioning, and process piping for mineral processing plants, concentrate handling systems, and mine infrastructure. We work alongside principal contractors and owner-operators to deliver reliable, code-compliant installations.
